note from Philip:
I was an About Guide from the very beginning of About.com (when it was called The Mining Company) until September 25, 2001.
I learned a lot about writing, the Internet, HTML programming, how to create an arts community and how to work within a large international group.
My Guidesite termination and the termination of 300 of my fellow Guides came as a complete surprise. We had spent four years building one of the top Web destinations on the Internet.
I've since started to rebuild The Artists' Exchange, independent of About.com. I already have a thriving artist's community in my online A&E Art Cabaret forum. Visitors are welcome!
