Chatting Online Guide: Julie Martin A note from Julie: I ran the Chatting Online site at About.com from October 1997 (when it was The Mining Company) until September 25th, 2001, when 300 sites were cut from the network. I have had plenty of experience with various forms of chat, dating back to CompuServe CB channels and Bulletin Board Systems all the way up to the latest IRC clients and several Instant Messenger programs. I currently run a standalone IRC server and have added a Java chat from my site, so anyone can easily become part of my new community. My chatrooms were the most active ones on the About network, and in this time of transition, I invite all my former chatters and any new interested chatters to take a look at the site below.
