Guide: Marshall Bowden

A note from Marshall:

    I began as a Guide at About.com in late 2000 because I wanted to share my interest about Jazz with a wide audience. I saw it as a way to communicate with jazz fans, collectors, and musicians from around the world as well as to help newcomers who might be intimidated by the vast array of jazz recordings and styles out there to gain a foothold in the world of jazz so that they could enjoy this unique American art form.

I was able, in large part, to fulfill that desire in my year or so with About.com, even though I found that many times I had to work around the demands of the About network in order to bring users the best possible experience. About has decided that it no longer needs a jazz site on its network, but I feel there is still much to explore and I know those in my community feel the same way. For that reason, I have started a new site, Jazzitude which will continue to offer good writing about jazz figures, interviews, reviews, and directories for jazz enthusiasts, collectors, and musicians. Jazzitude also includes information and articles about blues, world music, the music, culture, and sights of Louisiana, and special sections for musicians devoted to each instrument.
