A note from Michelle:

When I first visited the Rocky Mountains, I couldn't believe the huge mountains, the millions of bright stars in the night sky, and the clean smell of the air. I was hooked. After moving to Colorado, I began maintaining the Colorado for Visitors site for About.com back when it was The Mining Company. In August, 2000 my site was refocused to cover the Rocky Mountain states of Colorado, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.

During my 3 1/2 years with the company, I was privileged to work with many great people, including a gifted and enthusiastic group of travel Guides.

Sadly, the focus of About.com changed and my site was one of the 300 which were eliminated in the September 2001 cuts.

Endings make way for new beginnings. Boise Matthews, the former Southwest U.S. Guide, and I will launch GoAmericanWest in early September of 2001.
