Guide: Ellis Shuman

A note from Ellis:

I was the Israeli Culture Guide from April 1997 until September 2001. During that time I was able to present the land, history and people of Israel, from a cultural point of view, to an ever-growing Web audience.

The importance of an Israel-related website was emphasized with the recent outbreak of Palestinian violence, commonly known as the Intifada. As Israelis struggled to maintain their daily lives in a society hard hit by suicide bombings and drive-by shooting attacks, I strived to bring Israel's message to the web. Now, after September 11th, Americans have woken up to face the same enemy that Israelis have been fighting for years.

Since leaving the About.com family of sites, I have devoted myself fulltime to israelinsider, an online daily newsmagazine about Israel. There are plans to add a culture channel to israelinsider in the future, and hopefully this will provide a venue for much of my previous work from Israeli Culture.
